1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Booklio ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use the Service.

2. AI-Generated Content Disclosure

IMPORTANT NOTICE: All books, content, and materials available on Booklio are generated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. All author names, biographies, and personas presented on this platform are fictional AI personalities created for entertainment and educational purposes.

This practice is permitted under:

• 17 U.S.C. § 102(a) - Copyright law which protects original works of authorship, including compilations and derivative works created with AI assistance
• 17 U.S.C. § 106 - Rights in copyrighted works, which we hold for all AI-generated content
• EU Copyright Directive Article 4 - Text and data mining provisions allowing computational analysis and generation
• First Amendment Protection - U.S. Constitutional protection for creative and fictional works

By using this Service, you acknowledge and agree that:

• All content is AI-generated and authors are fictional AI personas
• No real persons are implied or represented by author names
• Content is provided for entertainment and educational purposes
• AI-generated content may contain errors, inconsistencies, or inaccuracies

3. Subscription and Payment Terms

Trial Period and Automatic Billing:

When you sign up for Booklio, you may be offered a free trial period. By providing payment information and enrolling in the trial:

• Payment Information Collection: We collect and securely store your payment card information through our PCI DSS-compliant payment processor (Stripe)
• Automatic Conversion: At the end of your trial period, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription
• Recurring Charges: Your payment method will be automatically charged the subscription fee on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected)
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time before the trial period ends to avoid charges
• No Refunds: Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by law

By providing payment information, you authorize Booklio and our payment processor to charge your payment method for all fees incurred.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or use of your account.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

All content, including but not limited to AI-generated books, text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of Booklio or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and read content for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not:

• Copy, distribute, or reproduce content without authorization
• Create derivative works based on our content
• Use automated systems to scrape or download content
• Remove or modify copyright notices or watermarks

6. Data Collection and Usage Tracking

We collect and analyze user behavior data to improve our Service and increase user engagement. This includes:

• Reading habits and preferences
• Time spent on platform and individual books
• Pages read and reading progress
• Click patterns and navigation behavior
• Device information and browser data
• IP addresses and location data

7. Prohibited Uses

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BOOKLIO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting.

12. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of California.
